For athletes
Be Number 1 encourages aspiring world-class athletes to develop lasting relationships with their local communities through their local schools.

To do this, we pay world-class British athletes to become mentor-type influencers within their local schools, so students are able to acquire better life skills, increased resilience and a stronger understanding of community.

Athletes gain:

• Moral support and a higher profile within their community from the school and students
• Financial support - payment of £1,000 for 5 visits – that will go towards their campaign
costs. Each visit is a half-school day (3 hours)

We want to make the visits as enjoyable as they are productive and so we guide the athletes’ visits. We also ensure that both sides, the athlete and the school, are committed to the programme.

Our registered athletes are keen to engage with young people and with our help they are able to share the magic of what it takes to reach a personal goal and to encourage young people to live their dreams. Each athlete has a story to tell about their over-coming struggles, challenges and how with hard work and determination they hope to succeed.
