As a member of Be Number 1, as well as giving financial support to a British athlete, you can show the world what a great sportsperson you are via your own B#1 Sports Page.

Each member is given a page on the Be Number 1 web site where you can show your own sporting highlights in the shape of blogs, photo galleries and video clips.

We’d like this to be very much sports, health and fitness orientated, so perhaps a bit different from other places on the internet where you can post. The most interesting Sports Page each month will be featured on the Be Number 1 Home page – so pick an athlete, sign up and get posting.

Best sporting moment ... The Beijing Olympics was amazing. The whole experience was so memorable. I really enjoyed walking out at the opening ceremony, meeting stars from different sports - and it helped that we played well and exceeded expectations as a hockey team
... and worst Not being selected for the 2006 Commonwealth Games in Melbourne. That, or having three teeth knocked out when the ball hit me in the face while playing for the England under-21 team in 2004!

Subject : European Champions!
Date : 28.09 09

The end of the summer saw us competing in the EuroHockey Nations Championship in Amsterdam. After topping our group we secured not only a semi final spot, but also automatic qualification into the World Cup next March in Delhi.

We beat Holland in the semi final in front of their home crowd to set up a final against the current World and Olympic Champions, Germany. The freedom of having a guaranteed medal help us put in another good team performance and we were able to win again, meaning we are now European Champions for the first time in the history of England Hockey.

For me personally, there wasn't much time to celebrate as I went straight to Germany to play for a club there. It was an excellent experience and my club, GHTC ,were undefeated in my time there.

I returned home again this weekend to resume England training as we prepare for the Champions Trophy (November, Melbourne) and the World Cup (March, New Delhi). I am also back playing for my home club Beeston, where we begin the new season competing at home and in the European club hockey competition, the Euro Hockey League.
