The end of the summer saw us competing in the EuroHockey Nations Championship in Amsterdam. After topping our group we secured not only a semi final spot, but also automatic qualification into the World Cup next March in Delhi.
We beat Holland in the semi final in front of their home crowd to set up a final against the current World and Olympic Champions, Germany. The freedom of having a guaranteed medal help us put in another good team performance and we were able to win again, meaning we are now European Champions for the first time in the history of England Hockey.
For me personally, there wasn't much time to celebrate as I went straight to Germany to play for a club there. It was an excellent experience and my club, GHTC ,were undefeated in my time there.
I returned home again this weekend to resume England training as we prepare for the Champions Trophy (November, Melbourne) and the World Cup (March, New Delhi). I am also back playing for my home club Beeston, where we begin the new season competing at home and in the European club hockey competition, the Euro Hockey League.
